Ember of Hope Counseling

A steady space for healing, growth, and resilience.

Hi there! I’m Julie.

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor associate in North Carolina. My work focuses on trauma informed counseling with military members, veterans, first responders, and individuals navigating high stress roles and major life transitions.

Trauma shapes how the brain and nervous system respond to the world. Many people live in survival mode for years without realizing it. This often shows up as anxiety, irritability, emotional numbness, sleep disruption, or feeling constantly on edge. These responses developed for protection. They make sense.

I specialize in helping clients understand trauma responses without judgement. Our work centers on restoring a sense of safety, improving nervous system regulation, and building practical skills that support stability and daily functioning. The goal is not to erase experiences; it is to reduce their hold on your present life.

My therapy dog, Ryu, sometimes joins sessions as a calming presence. If dogs feel uncomfortable or distracting, please let me know. Your comfort and sense of safety guide our work.
